Is Genograms.net HIPAA compliant?
Yes. We implement all required HIPAA technical safeguards: AES-256 encryption at rest, encrypted transport (TLS), automatic session timeouts, role-based access control, full audit logging with 6-year retention, and a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for every provider account. We also maintain a documented Security Risk Assessment, Incident Response Plan, and Data Retention Policy.
Do my clients need to pay?
No. Clients are invited by their provider at no additional cost. They create a connected account through a secure invite link — no separate billing, no app to download. They simply open the link in their browser and join your session.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your genograms remain accessible in read-only mode. You can export them at any time. If you request account deletion, all data is soft-deleted immediately and permanently purged after 30 days, in compliance with our Data Retention Policy. We never hold your data hostage.
Can I use this for telehealth sessions?
Absolutely. Genograms.net is designed for both in-person and telehealth workflows. Share your screen during a video call, or send the client a collaboration link so you can build the genogram together in real time while on a call. It's the perfect visual companion for remote family therapy.
Is there a limit on genograms or clients?
No. Provider accounts include unlimited genograms, unlimited client invitations, and unlimited collaboration sessions. We don't charge per client or per genogram — one flat price covers everything.
What genogram notations do you support?
We support standard genogram symbols including male, female, non-binary, transgender, pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and pet markers. Relationship types include marriage, partnership, divorce, separation, engagement, and more. Emotional relationship patterns and medical/clinical markers are fully supported.
How is my data protected?
All genogram data is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Data in transit is protected by TLS. Sessions auto-timeout after 15 minutes of inactivity. We implement rate limiting, CSRF protection, account lockout, and role-based access. Encryption keys are stored securely outside the data layer. We take this seriously — our codebase is built security-first.
